Piql chosen by EU Archiver Project

Piql, in collaboration with a Spanish technology integrator, GMV, and supporting cloud providers SafeSpring and AWS, is thrilled to have won a place on the Archiver Project Consortium.

The collaboration was awarded a place in the Design Phase at a public virtual ceremony on 8 June.

The Archiver Project will introduce significant improvements in archiving and digital preservation to meet the needs of the research community, covering the full research cycle.

Now through to the Design Phase, Piql is excited about offering unique benefits of an agnostic cloud solution, with high level compliance across international standards (including GDPR) towards the delivery of hybrid end-to-end archival preservation services.

Piql was chosen by the Buyer Consortium made up of Inter-governmental as well as national research organisations who are experts in the preparation, execution and promotion of the procurement, including:

  • CERN
  • European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL)
  • Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY)
  • PIC

Piql is confident that the joint-solution will meet the innovation challenges of the European Research communities in the context of the European Open Science Cloud.

Piql’s Project Leader, Roberto Gonzalez, said it was encouraging be one of five chosen out of 15 impressive international players.

This collaboration with GMV offers a unique strength and we are excited about progressing further with the project and developing a great solution for the European Research community
